Today is a special day for the people of Zambia and the Zambian diaspora, marking 61 years since Zambia gained independence in 1964.
On this date, Zambians celebrate their rich history and culture, both in Zambia and throughout diaspora communities around the world

2. The eagle on the Zambian flag represents the people’s ability to rise above hardship 🦅
3. Nshima is a favourite dish eaten in Zambia, made from ground maize flour and often serviced with a variety of sides including stews or vegetables 👨🍳
4. Zambia is named after the Zambezi river which flows along the country’s border with Zimbabwe 🌊
5. Zambia has a diverse wildlife, being home to animals including lions, leopards, elephants and hippos and many more 🦁
