The ZOA family is very sad that our friend, Trustee and former Treasurer and Secretary, Freedom Mpande, passed away recently. Freedom had been unwell for some time but despite his health challenges remained actively involved in the day-to-day management of our work until just a few weeks before his death.
Freedom was born in Zambia, but came to the UK on a mining scholarship to study at Leeds University. Freedom settled in the UK and became a qualified Chartered Accountant and had a very successful career with the Civil Service. He joined the ZOA board in 2020 taking on the vital role of Treasurer and Secretary not long afterwards.
The ZOA team extends our heartfelt sympathy to Freedom’s wife Lesley and his children Sula and Isla.
